High School Football - Two Weeks Already
I always get pumped up at the start of a new season. But then the season begins and it seems to fly by.
We are 2 weeks into the High School Football sason and we already have had several surprises. Defending state champions Hand and Hillhouse have losses. In fact Hillhouse is 0-2. Unthinkable isn't it.
North Haven defeated Xavier in Week 2 and yet when the new poll came out, North Haven was ranked behind Xavier. As a voter in the poll, I was shocked to see this and stunned by the people, my peers and colleagues, who could possibly do this. Where was the reward for this victory? North Haven's win was no fluke. They are unbeaten and deservedly so, and deserve a higher rank.
St. Joseph defeated Fairfield Prep on the last play of the game and Derby and Hamden are off to 2-0 starts. The Chargers of Ansonia, #1 team in the Poll, continue to roll along.
Two weeks in, some surprises and maybe some shocks. There are many more games to be played, so expect some more of the unexpected!
I just don't want it to fly by.
