Legion and Little League
Ah! Summer is upon us. The American Legion season is underway and thus far has been plagued by rain. I have never seen as many postponements as this year. But all the games will eventually be played and the Playoffs will commence. The Top 5 teams in each Zone will make the Playoffs, putting 40 teams in the Post Season. I personally think that is too many teams. Thirty-two is an ideal number and it makes the brackets easy to figure out.
But Legion is still, in my mind, great baseball. If you get a chance, take in a game. You will really enjoy it.
Little League regular seasons are over.(Imagine kids are still in school and their seasons are over - What?) Certainly, it's time for the Post Season - even Little League has a rigid schedule now and it must be adhered to.
The Road to....... now begins as the District Playoffs begin - the first step in the Road. The District Playoffs may be the toughest one to get out of - a lot of games then 2 out of 3 to win the Championship, then the Section Playoffs and finally the State Championships.
Then it's on to the Regionals before the World Series. So many games - it's like another whole season.
Thank goodness, there are tournaments for the players not picked for the All Star teams. I'm sure they want to play - I mean it's Summer - they should be playing. Every baseball field should be used and there should be games on every field.
So let's see which teams travel the Road to...., a dream that every youngster thinks about - I know I did.
