Heading into Week 8
Well, 7 weeks of High School Football are completed. It has been an exciting and eventful season thus far. Week 7 alone produced a game that people will be talking about for quite some time. Xavier, down 28 points to Hillhouse starting the 4th quarter, rallied from 28 down, to defeat Hillhouse 50-49. That tied the state record for biggest comeback in many years. But many of the scores once again have been lopsided. I really think conferences should look at their schedules and try to avoid scheduling these games. Listen I know this might happen anyway but to have some of these teams continually play the top teams every year is just not good for the sport( I'm thinking of some of the teams in the FCIAC and SWC who always seem to be playing the same top teams).
Everyone starts paying attention to scores now. Which teams are winning to help and which teams are losing unexpectedly when you thought you might get some help. It's wild, coaches become math majors trying to figure out all the scenarios, hopefully putting them in the playoffs.
There are still some big games left to be played, some on Thanksgiving Day(my favorite holiday), and some playoff spots might not be decided until then. That makes for another exciting finish to a great high school football season.
Let's see what Week 8 brings, shall we?
