After Many Weeks, A New Number #1
After weeks and weeks of no change at the top of the HS football Top Ten Poll, there is finally a new #1 team. In Week 5, #3 Hand defeated #1 Xavier 40-20. It was a 7 point game heading into the 4th quarter, but Hand dominated play and scored 2 more TD's while plaing that suffocating defense and basically cruised to victory. This takes nothing away from Xavier, a fine team as well, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Championship Game in December. I mean in terms of the game itself, Hand won and in my mind, should be the new #1 team in the poll. I mean they beat #1, a team that had been there for weeks, had won 2 State Championships in a row, no question about it for me. How could you justify anyone else? But let's await the poll and see.
