Goralnik's Guesses: North Haven at NDWH (Week 2)

A 1-0 start to Goralnik's Guesses is more-or-less a predictable outcome at this point. Starting off with a win is a very safe bet, despite being tested early with a rivalry matchup that found me banking on the road team. Tonight's battle should be more of the same for me....a dub!

The 1-0 Nighthawks of North Haven come rolling to town as we are back at Veteran's Field for another NDWH home game. They did not start their year off the way they wanted against cross-town rival West Haven. Tonight is an opportunity for redemption for this Green Knights squad, but they will not have it easy as Tony Sagnella always has his boys ready to battle. Despite the blowout loss last week, there is something that I saw from NDWH that tipped me off to who will win this week.

The Green Knights are led by Senior QB Matt Piechota. He struggled a little in the opener but that is fuel to the fire. After the loss to West Haven, Piechota waited until all of his teammates were in the handshake to jump in behind them. But it is what he did while he waited that struck me. He sat on the bench with a look of fire in his eyes. It certainly wasn't anger and it was impressively controlled, to the point where he was still. He had the same kind of look that Lebron or Tom Brady shows when they've been defeated but are about to bounce back. The only thing that is in question is what kind of player Matt is. Personally, I think he is capable of being "that guy" and I think he is poised for a BIG bounce back game. Despite a quality opponent in North Have, give me Piechota to have a big game and lead the Green Knights to their first win of the season.
